Other things and stuff like that......

I thought I would add a page for things & stuff.....things that I love, or have caught my eye, stuff I do, or things me & my family make, other peoples ideas & pictures etc....Feel free to add anything in here as well...Ideas are free, they grow and become whole.....

Last year, with a toddler running around the home, we decided not to have a Christmas tree, so instead we made one from wood & had it outside on the front deck.

A couple of years ago, trees on a neighbouring property fell on our house (thats another story!), so we've lots of spare wood :-)  So into the garden we went in search of things we could use for our Christmas Tree......We found a round base, lots of branches & pine cones.  The base was easy, so was the wooden broomstick we used for the 'trunk', then came the hard graft.....Over 30 'branches' had to have holes drilled through them to create the 'braches of a tree' - Largest at the base, right up to the top & a fairy....well, in this case a Grey Wizard from the Japanese $3.40 shop!!

This is him, a few months after Christmas.....

Then came the bestest fun.....Off to the beach we went, in search of decorations....We found all manner of shells, in a rainbow cascade of colours, pebbles, bits of drift wood, bright orange seaweed, bits of paua...home again & armed with a glue gun & lots of string, we stuck, and glued and we yelped in pain with glue stuck to our fingers, but most of all we laughed, it was a wonderful afternoon.
We even managed to find some fairylights under the house...

And 6 months on, it still looks beautiful, the spiders have moved in, caterpillars too...it will stay on the deck for Winter, then in Spring, we'll find a new home for it in the garden, but I think I'll make sure it stays in view....it's part of the family now xx

And yes, we will definately make another this year, it's a family tradition....xx
